Our design concept focuses on revitalizing the housing estate environment by improving the quality of green spaces while preserving the existing natural elements. Retaining the park's open-air and landscaped nature is crucial, considering wind tunnels formed by tall buildings, leading to drafty spaces.
The cultural centre at the square serves as a flexible focal point, accommodating changing needs and fostering outdoor social functions. High-quality green spaces enhance the area's charm, encouraging community engagement and unity.
Preserving the diverse woody vegetation, such as sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) and hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), forms the backbone of the park's appeal, creating a vibrant green oasis. A soft form approach distinguishes the Main Square, harmonizing the building and spatial structure for a unique identity.
We propose a sunken water feature, offering flexibility for events and reducing maintenance. A garden area complements the main square, providing a relaxing space with meandering flower areas, pedestrian walkways, and public furniture.
By transforming the housing estate into an inviting and livable environment, our design concept blends urban infrastructure with the beauty of nature. The Újpalota centre becomes a vibrant community hub, fostering pride and a sense of belonging among residents.
